Inni jó / DRINKING IS GOOD 2023
3,900Ft
Those who have tasted this wine know that the ‘simplicity’ of its name (as opposed to its content) reveals a philosophy, a family story. My younger son Vencel tasted a sip and said, it feels good to drink, then my eldest, Vince, pondered on ‘Drinking is good!’ – so my three-year-old instinctively articulated the essence we all have been working towards for generations.
A blend based of cabernet franc aged in small barrels – You can expect a more serious palate than the name, a complex, rich red wine, while its velvety juiciness and ripe fruitiness really makes It is dangerously good to drink!
The 2023 vintage stays true to the bold and juicy spirit of Inni jó. Its aroma already reveals an intense cocoa-dusted, berry-driven character, which seamlessly returns and expands on the palate. The full-bodied, rounded sip unfolds into layers of ripe cherry, blackcurrant, and blackberry, complemented by fine barrel spices, a bold yet well-structured body, silky tannins, and a lingering, flavorful finish. A vibrant, inviting wine that truly begs to be enjoyed.
Winemaking, ageing:
2023 was a vintage full of challenges, yet it provided us with classic harvest dates and outstanding quality. The Blaufränkisch grapes were hand-harvested on September 28, 2023, the Cabernet Franc grapes on October 4-5, 2022 from the vineyard next to the cellar. Both batches the grapes were destemmed and carefully selected on a sorting table before undergoing a few days of cold maceration. Fermentation began spontaneously and was later supplemented in its final third with a natural yeast addition to ensure a clean and secure completion. Skin contact: Blaufränkisch 16 days, the Franc 18 days.
I vinified the batches separately, pressed them with the old, timeless Kossuth press, and after the malolactic fermentation the wines were blended, allowing them to mature and evolve together. This was followed by 13 months of barrel aging in 5 hl and 3 hl oak. The wine was bottled in December 2024, sealed with a premium Diam cork.
